  • As much as I like Wozniak, he's been missing in action regarding leading a successful product like iPods or iPhones. These products have defied expectations and are continuing to revolutionize the market place. While it's true that successful products die at some point, that can be said about anything. So really, Wozniak's not saying anything new or great.

The best of the iPods is still to come. The newer applications are starting to take advantage of the new iPhone and iTouch platform, and just wait and see the new upcoming peripherals.

For example, I no longer have to take a laptop to a presentation. I can save my Powerpoint slideshow as jpgs, store in an album, transfer it to iTouch, hook my tv to the iTouch, and do my presentation. In only 10 minutes.

Yes, one day we'll see these devices everywhere, but they'll have morphed into something else. It's part of the mobile platform evolution, which is taking the power of desktop computing in your pocket and giving you access to knowledge, friends, and entertainment.

By the way, the Apple developer culture has now been opened up. In case you missed it. ;-) So watch for even more accelerated app development.

  • Woz has been an technology idiot for decades now. Forced out of Apple when he was arguably at his most inventive and productive he has declined to his current state of disorder over decades of non-productivity. He's always good for a contrarian opinion, usually so far wrong that almost no one will publish it in a serious vein. Usually, only editors from publications employing the most green of writers with little or no serious tech writing experience will publish his musings. It's been all quite a joke to read his thoughts to those of us in the industry who still matter and who actually know something about what we are talking about. Walkman indeed.
