Who are we?
Welcome to Pocket-lint the largest independent gadget news and reviews site in the UK.
We are a small team of journalists curating the vast array of tech news to bring you a constant stream of interesting stories. Our news is designed to be quick and snappy, our features in-depth and helpful, and our reviews through, but not overly geeky.
Whatever we write we aren't interested in pointless number crunching or providing you 16-page articles including how we took it out of the box, but easy to read, and more importantly, easy to understand words - here's our review policy if you are interested in finding out more.
When we get a product in for review we ask three key questions:
1. Does it make my life better?
2. Does it work?
3. Has it got wow factor?
If you have any comments about the site, or the stories we write, or would like to get in touch with advertising on Pocket-lint, we would love to hear from you via the feedback form.
We hope that you enjoy the site as much as we enjoy making it.
Stuart Miles and the Pocket-lint team
Founder and CEO
Stuart has been a technology journalist since 1998 and written for a number of publications both in the mainstream media and tech press in the UK. Regularly turning up on television and newspapers here in the UK and abroad, Stuart has played with virtually every gadget from digital cameras to mobile phones and plenty in-between.
Élyse has worked in tech journalism, general news reporting and copy editing for nearly 9 years, where she has since become a know-it-all in most things Apple and Google-related. She holds a BA in multimedia journalism and is earning an MFA in creative writing and screenwriting; so she therefore spends most of her free time either watching movies or type-type-typing away on her laptop. Élyse also obsesses over the latest gadgets and all-things beauty and shells out far too much money on both.
Britta comes from the world of kitchens & bathrooms where she learnt all there is to know about appliances, hinges and WCs in her three years. She studied fashion journalism and will gladly spend stupid amounts of money on shoes and handbags before food. Britta loves technology, you will never see her without her phone in her hand, keeping up with an ever-changing digital world.
Luke has been touching up tech, and writing, for seven years across FHM, Stuff, T3 and Shortlist to name a few. With an MA and NCTJs in journalism and an unquenchable love of gadgets no tech escapes his digits. If you notice comic book and film references in his copy, don't fret, he's obsessed with those too.
Chris has been involved with Pocket-lint since its launch stepping into the Editor role in 2011, formerly Editor of Reviews. Chris critically eyes the world of tech through the lens of his beloved DSLR, ever eager, and rarely able, to capture a gadget's best side. Chris finds himself preoccupied with seeking balance in an increasingly wonky world.
Editor of News & Features
Rik has been a tech and games journalist for more than 25 years, and is now a Pocket-lint stalwart having been on the site for over three. In his past, he has edited Your Commodore and a swathe of other games magazines, and was deputy editor of Home Cinema Choice for several years. He has worked in almost every form of the media, newspapers, magazines, online and worked in television for eight years, with stints as series producer of Sky One's Games World and co-presenter of Channel 4's Gamesmaster being notable highlights.
Head of Video
If there was an award for being lucky, Ian would have won it for his implausibly interesting career. Starting off as one of those spotty youths who worked in Currys, he eventually moved to the BBC (after getting a degree) where he was an HTML expert and editorial wrangler. A stint writing for Top Gear led him to a career as a full-time writer, and a move to consumer electronics. Ian has co-presented Gadget Geeks, a technology show for Sky and is currently Pocket-lint's head of video.
Gaming geek, semi-failed cyclist, big screen and movie lover and fan of both big beats and beer. As the former Reviews Editor at What Digital Camera, self-confessed camera geek Mike has seen pretty much every digital camera that's been made. His work has featured in a variety of well-respected titles, including Wired, TechRadar, Professional Photographer and many more.
US news editor
The baby of the Lint team, Jake is responsible for covering the latest news out of the US. He began writing technology news at 15, covering the world of Apple for several publications. He has a deep interest in the latest gadgets and gizmos. Outside of breaking news, Jake enjoys drumming, music and photography.
