- Sleek and compact, superb touch UI, multitasking, excellent organisational skills
- The Bad
- Under-powered processor, short on software and storage, cut and paste is rubbish
- Verdict
- Watch out Apple! If Palm can ramp up its apps (and perhaps roll-out an OS update) the multi-talented Pre will poach users hunting for a smart, sexy iPhone alternative

- Looks stunning, seamless shopping, more memory, big screen
- The Bad
- Sluggish interface, cheap joystick, basic formatting, awkwardly large
- Verdict
- Bigger? Yes. Better? Not really. More memory and better PDF handling are welcome but Kindle’s super-sized ebook reader might be too large for travellers and too small for anyone expecting a real digital newspaper

- QWERTY keyboard, easy email set-up
- The Bad
- No voice communications, lack of document support, price
- Verdict
- Overall, the Peek is a nicely "diverged" product. If you just want email and text on the fly, it is a light, efficient and extremely easy alternative to a bulky, expensive smartphone

- More of a catalogue filler, rather than a breaking the mold option

- QWERTY keypad still awkward
- Verdict
- Overall then and the P1 seems to offer plenty over the previous P990, however the verdict is still out as to whether or not it will stand up to the likes of the Treo or the BlackBerry
