According to a chat Pocket-lint had with Microsoft back in July, there should be five launch partners for Windows Phone 7 handsets when the new mobile phone operating system launches later this year.

Those manufacturers were confirmed as Dell, Samsung, HTC, Asus, and LG.

Fast forward 30 days and we now, thanks to a series of leaks, have a very good idea what the handsets from those manufacturers will look like.

It's worth pointing out at this point that none of the phones below are confirmed and all spec information is based on rumours, leaked details, and best of all, spy shots caught in the wild from people keen to share pictures of the devices.

Still, chances are it's all true, and they're all coming to a phone shop or website near you in the next couple of months, and to confirm - these aren't in any particular order.

The Dell Lightning

Dell's Windows Phone 7 handset is currently going under the moniker of the Dell Lightning. Expected to be a Windows Phone 7 launch handset, according to rumours it will pack a 1GHz processor, 4.1-inch OLED display, 5-megapixel camera, 1GB of internal memory plus 512MB of RAM, an 8GB microSD card, GPS, accelerometer, compass, FM radio and full support for Flash.

Samsung Cetus i917

Samsung's Windows Phone 7 handset, the Samsung Cetus i917 has turned up in some spy shots showing what Windows Phone 7 and Samsung fans have to look forward to come the launch this "holiday" season.

Named the Cetus, the phone first turned up at the end of July on a Bluetooth Special Interest Group page, and lists specs such as a 4-inch screen with an 800 x 480 AMOLED display, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a now-all-the-rage VGA front facing camera.

Asus Windows Phone 7 xxx

Yet to get a funky name like the others in this set, the Asus Windows Phone 7 smartphone will, if you go by the pictures that have so far turned up, have a brushed metal casing on the front, a large touchscreen display of around 3.5 to 4 inches and the defacto three buttons; Windows, Back and Search. There also looks to be a very small front facing camera, although even that is debatable - remember the iPad's camera turned out to be a light sensor.

HTC Shubert, HTC Mozart or the HTC Mondrian

Back in July when Pocket-lint spoke with HTC's global PR and online community manager Eric Lin, he told us of HTC's commitment to Windows Phone 7 and explained how the company had "every expectation" that there would be a HTC WP7 device available "on day one".

Until now, we thought that the device in question would be either the HTC Mozart or the HTC Mondrian, that both turned up in a XML database file from HTC's MMS specs page. But now, the supposed HTC Schubert has been uncovered and has set tongues a wagging on the web that this could be the handset to kick-start HTC's Windows Phone 7 assault.

There are no spec details regarding the Schubert, all we know is what has been shown from leaked pictures and videos - that it looks as if it is a Legend-style aluminium handset with rubber or plastic curves on the back. There's also a camera with flash, but unfortunately that's it.

LG C900, LG Pacific, LG Panther

We've heard a number of names for the LG WIndows Phone 7 phone. The latest is the LG C900 moniker.

The LG Windows Phone 7 smartphone will come with a four-row keyboard, the defacto three-button Windows Phone 7 configuration (this time two touch sensitive and one hard), and a large screen waiting to be pressed if you can't be bothered to pull out that keyboard.

The images of the smartphone show AT&T, which could suggest that the US operator has created either a dedicated app or, as Pocket-lint broke earlier in the year, an entire hub for people to access a plethora of AT&T information from.

The good news, from a UK perspective is that if this is on AT&T then chances are the LG C900 will be heading to the UK as it's likely, although not confirmed, to be Quad-band when it comes to dialling in to your favourite network.
