If you're just about to buy that new smartphone, stop. You might be about to buy something that is going to be out of date sooner than you expect.

That's the suggestion from Omio, a mobile phone comparison site and blog, who has managed to get its hands on a UK roadmap of phones and been kind enough to share the details with us.

The details, which Omio confirmed to Pocket-lint were 100 per cent "legit", have come from one of its partners. However, the site wouldn't confirm who that partner was or whether the details within the roadmap where tied to a specific operator.

That said, it is also worth noting that phone names and release data tend to be work in progress at this stage, so while this information might have been true at the time the document was created, it might not be true now, or, for that matter, in the months to come.

Phones will be coming from the likes of Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and RIM, though the pick of the bunch looks to be the HTC Gold; a Windows Phone 7 handset that will be released in November.

Other handsets of note are the Nokia E7, supposedly looking like the Nokia N8, featuring the same Symbian^3 operating system, AMOLED screen and QWERTY keyboard, while the previously unheard of Samsung i8700 Cetus, is expected to be packing the new-ish Bada OS instead of Android.

Nokia

Nokia E5-00 - Due in July, it will be a newer version of the E71 and E72

Nokia X6 8GB - Out in August, it will join the 16GB and 32GB offerings.

Nokia X2 - Due to arrive 1 September, this  X-series model will sport 16GB of storage and a 5-megapixel camera, if rumours are to be believed.

Nokia N8 - We've already seen the Nokia N8 a couple of times in action and Nokia is promising an end of year release. That release, according to this roadmap, is October.

Nokia E7 - Coming with a metal body, this Symbian^3 powered smartphone gets an AMOLED screen and is supposedly out in November. A full QWERTY keyboard and tilting screen makes it look like an N97 replacement.

Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson W20 - This new Sony Walkman handset seems to be similar to the Sony Ericsson Zylo, both are looking like July launches.

Sony Ericsson Hazel - This is the eco-friendly device we've been hearing about for some time now. It gets a September release, according to Omio's roadmap.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 (Shakira) - We've heard about this handset before and here it is again. Supposedly turning up in October, this Android powered handset will sit alongside the X10 mini and X10 mini Pro. It will also pack a 3-megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson Yendo - A full touch Walkman phone that's Symbian rather than Android powered, and looks to be along the lines of its Aino handset.

Samsung

Samsung i5500 - Supposedly a Corby/Genio smartphone that touts Android, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, and a 2-megapixel camera.

Samsung i8700 Cetus - No information on this, other than it is expected to be available in November and that it will run the Bada rather than Android OS.

RIM

BlackBerry Curve 9300 - According to Omio the phone that's been codenamed Kepler will get an August release date and sit alongside the Curve 8520 and Bold 9700.

HTC

HTC Vision - Yep, that phone we've seen in the news recently in which we debunked the spy shots, it's launching October.

HTC Ace - No details other than a name on the "roadmap"

HTC Gold - This phone will come with Windows Phone 7 and is expected in November. HTC has always said that it will be launching a Windows Phone 7 handset, however don't expect this to be its final name.
