Apple has been doing plenty of bragging as of late. Recently we told you about a press release that it sent us boasting about the 3 million iPads it had shifted. And we've just received another release - this time saying that 1.7 million iPhone 4s were sold in the first 3 days of its availability.
“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history”, said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologise to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply”.
1.7 million in 3 days. That's over 566,000 a day, meaning they are selling over 6 iPhone 4s per second on average. Simply staggering.
The chances are though, that it won't be able to keep selling the device at this astounding rate. Both the US and the UK Apple Stores are saying "3 weeks" in terms of shipment if you order the device online.
If you are really keen to get one before then, then we can only suggest contacting your local Apple Store daily to see if it has had a delivery in. You can also use the O2 stock checker, although be aware that this isn't up-to-the-minute info, it's only updated every few hours or so.
Before the Apple fanboys jump on the comments and hammer us for the headline - it was only meant as a little joke, we know how defensive and precious you can get over your Apple devices. Especially when you've queued up all night for one and forked out £599 as well.
