Apple Stores opening early for iPad rush

But pre-orders may be disrupted

Apple Stores opening early for iPad rush

25 May 2010 11:08 GMT / By Rik Henderson

Anticipating a mad rush pre-work hours, Apple is to open its UK stores at 8am on Friday morning (May 28). Eager early adopters can be even earlier in getting their mitts on a shiny new iPad.

Obviously, this doesn't help those who have pre-ordered through the online service, they'll still have to wait anywhere up to 2 weeks afterwards. Rumours also abound that those who ordered on day one may not even receive their packages on time. It seems that the tracking section of pre-orders has been removed, with no delivery dates now being given.

Unfortunately, queueing may be the only way to guarantee ownership on launch.
