Panasonic 3DTV goes on sale in US

3D Blu-ray player available, too

Panasonic has confirmed that it's begun selling its first 3DTV models in the United States in conjunction with Best Buy. The retailer is offering bundles that include a Panasonic 3DTV as well as one of the company's 3D Blu-ray players.

To be precise, the package consists of a 50-inch Panasonic VIERA VT20 Plasma 3D HDTV which includes a pair of Panasonic 3D Active Shutter Lens Eyewear, and the Panasonic BDT300 3D Blu-ray Disc player. The combined price of the components - which will also be available individually - is $2900.

Bob Perry, one of Panasonic's SVPs, said: "Television has successfully moved from black and white, to color, to High Definition. But immersive, totally realistic 3D imagery has been the final frontier and beginning today, Panasonic has conquered that as well".

It's not yet clear when the TV will be rolling out in Britain, or how much it'll cost over here, but it can't be long now. We'll keep you posted.
